Design it. Cut it. Shape it. Light it.

Create a custom metal candle cover that casts beautiful light and shadow patterns.

In this hands-on MakerClass, participants will create a custom metal candle cover using Area 59’s new MetalFab system.

You will begin in Adobe Illustrator, where you will learn how to place and embed your own silhouette image into a candle cover frame design. Whether it’s trees, wildlife, a mountain skyline, or a personal graphic, your design becomes part of the finished piece.

Once your design is complete, we’ll cut it from galvanized steel using the MetalFab. After cutting, you’ll carefully shape and assemble the metal to form your candle cover.

When placed over an LED candle, your cut design casts glowing patterns and shadows, creating a one-of-a-kind illuminated piece that reflects both your creativity and real fabrication skills.

This class blends digital design, precision metal cutting, and hands-on forming techniques into one complete project.

No prior Illustrator experience is required. We’ll guide you through each step of the design and fabrication process.
