Create your own custom coin using precision metal engraving.

In this hands-on MakerClass, participants will design and engrave a commemorative brass coin using Area 59’s new xTool F2 Ultra metal engraving system.

The class begins in Adobe Illustrator, where you will design the artwork for the front of your coin. This could be a personal symbol, logo, silhouette, or graphic that represents something meaningful to you. Once your design is complete, we will prepare it for engraving and transfer it to the F2 Ultra.

Each participant will engrave their design onto a solid brass coin approximately 40 mm in diameter. The reverse side of the coin can be personalized with a name or date, turning the piece into a lasting keepsake.

During the class you will learn:

• Basic design setup in Adobe Illustrator
• How digital artwork is prepared for metal engraving
• How the F2 Ultra engraves and embosses metal surfaces
• Techniques for creating clear, high-contrast metal designs

By the end of the class, you will leave with a custom engraved brass commemorative coin and experience using the same type of digital fabrication tools used in modern engraving and manufacturing.

No prior Illustrator experience is required. We will guide you through each step of the design and engraving process.
