Plasma Cut Garden Gnome MakerClass (April 18)

Plasma Cut Garden Gnome MakerClass (April 18)

$45.00

This class takes place on April 18 @ 9:30 AM.

Bring a little personality to your plants in this hands-on metalworking MakerClass at Area 59. In this class, you will transform a garden gnome design into a custom steel plant spike using real fabrication equipment and hands-on finishing techniques.

We will begin in Adobe Illustrator, where you will learn how to prepare vector artwork for plasma cutting. You’ll explore how cut paths and structural connections impact the final piece, especially for outdoor garden use. No prior Illustrator experience is required. We guide you step by step.

Once your design is ready, we move to the plasma table to cut your gnome from steel. You will see the full process in action and learn how digital design becomes physical metal.

After cutting, participants will:

  • Remove slag and clean edges

  • Grind and smooth surfaces

  • Prepare the steel for outdoor durability

  • Finish their gnome spike with either a painted or sealed coating

By the end of class, you will leave with a finished plasma-cut steel garden gnome plant spike ready for your flower beds, planters, or landscaping.

This class is perfect for:
