My Grown Up & Me: Family STEM Maker Box Challenge (9/19)
My Grown Up & Me: Family STEM Maker Box Challenge (9/19)
This class takes place on Saturday, September 19, from 9:30 - 11:00 AM.
Join us for My Grown-Up & Me: Family STEM, a hands-on class designed for one child and one grown-up to create, experiment, and problem-solve together.
We’ll begin with Peter H. Reynolds’ The Dot, a story about creativity, confidence, and discovering what can happen when you simply start. Then families will take on a special Dot STEM Challenge using a limited collection of everyday maker materials.
Working as a team, each partnership will:
Design a solution to the challenge
Build and test their idea
Observe what works—and what doesn’t
Make changes and try again
Share their final solution with the group
There is no single “right” answer. The focus is on creativity, teamwork, persistence, and the engineering design process: build, test, revise, and improve.
This class is designed for a child and their grown-up to participate together, making it a fun way to explore STEM while building something side by side.
$20 per partnership
Registration is required.
All activity materials are included.
And each partnership will take home their own copy of The Dot by Peter H. Reynolds so the story—and the creativity it inspires—can continue at home.
