Circuit Detectives: Build Your Own Burglar Alarm
Circuit Detectives: Build Your Own Burglar Alarm
Discover the exciting world of electricity and electronics as you design and build your very own burglar alarm!
In this hands-on 4-H MakerClass, participants will explore how electrical circuits work through fun experiments using batteries, copper tape, LEDs, wires, and buzzers. They'll learn about open and closed circuits, how electricity flows, and how switches control electrical devices.
Then it's time to put those new skills to the test! Participants will assemble a laser-cut wooden box and use their knowledge of electrical circuits to create a working burglar alarm that sounds when the box is opened.
Along the way, students will practice problem-solving, troubleshooting, and basic engineering skills as they discover how electrical circuits are used in everyday life.
Each participant will take home their own working burglar alarm box, complete with its electrical components.
No previous electronics experience is necessary. Just bring your curiosity and get ready to experiment, build, and create!
