CAD Kids: 3D Printing & Design for Homeschoolers (Gr. 6-8)
Discover the world of 3D design and printing in this hands-on class created just for homeschool students. Over six weeks (Jan. 6 - Feb. 10), students will learn how 3D printers work, explore real design tools, and create their own projects from start to finish. Each week builds new skills as students move from basic modeling in TinkerCAD to slicing, printing, and improving their own creations.
We begin with a fun introduction using 3D pens to understand how objects are built in layers. Students will then learn to design original models, prepare files for printing, and experiment with settings that affect strength, detail, and print quality. Projects range from simple keychains and functional objects to multi-part designs and problem-solving challenges.
No experience is required. All materials are provided. Students will finish the class with a collection of printed projects and a strong foundation in digital fabrication and creative problem solving.
