AI in Action: Creating Responsibly with Artificial Intelligence
Grades: 8–12 (January 14 - March 4, 2026); 10:30 AM - 12:30 PM
Duration: 8 Weeks | 1 class per week | 2 hours per session
Location: Area 59 Makerspace, Gillette College
Step into the future of creativity and innovation! In AI in Action, students explore how artificial intelligence (AI) transforms the way we create, communicate, and solve problems. This hands-on course connects art, design, robotics, and digital storytelling as students learn to use AI responsibly and thoughtfully.
Each week blends creativity with technology—students will design laser-cut artwork from AI-generated images, create 3D-printed models using AI modeling tools, experiment with voice and storytelling technology, and program autonomous robots to navigate real-world challenges. Along the way, they’ll discuss the ethics of AI, explore its role in society, and learn how to be responsible digital citizens.
What Students Will Learn:
How AI works and where it appears in everyday life
Responsible and ethical use of AI tools
Prompt writing and digital design for laser cutting
AI-assisted 3D modeling and printing
Storytelling with AI-generated voices
Programming and testing robots that think and move
Communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
Aligned Standards:
This course supports the Wyoming Computer Science Content & Performance Standards and Wyoming Science Standards, emphasizing problem-solving, data use, ethical computing, and engineering design. It also integrates the ISTE Standards for Students, helping learners grow as Empowered Learners, Innovative Designers, and Digital Citizens.
No prior experience required—just curiosity and creativity!
