Build It Right: Hand Tools & Wood Working Foundations
Build It Right: Hand Tools & Wood Working Foundations
This hands-on homeschool MakerClass introduces upper elementary students to woodworking using safe, age-appropriate hand tools and guided instruction. Students learn basic shop safety, tool identification, and proper tool use while building a wooden open toolbox from start to finish.
Over the four-week class, students measure, mark, cut, assemble, and finish their project using introductory hand tools. Each toolbox is intentionally designed to store and carry the tools students use during class, reinforcing both function and pride in craftsmanship.
Safety is emphasized at every step through clear expectations, demonstrations, and closely supervised practice. Students build confidence working with their hands while developing patience, precision, and problem-solving skills.
By the end of the class, students leave with a completed wooden toolbox and foundational woodworking skills they can build on in future maker and shop experiences.
No prior woodworking experience is required.
