Scroll Saw Foundations for Homeschoolers (Starts 9/10)

Scroll Saw Foundations for Homeschoolers (Starts 9/10)

$175.00

For students in 6th grade and up

For safety, participants must wear long pants, short sleeves, and closed-toe shoes. Hair that reaches the shoulders or longer must be securely tied back. Safety glasses will be provided.

Give your student the opportunity to build practical woodworking skills while creating a finished project they will be proud to display. In this eight-week, hands-on course, students will learn to safely operate a scroll saw and use essential hand tools as they complete a layered wooden Wyoming scene featuring a bison, pine trees, mountains, and Devils Tower..

Students will begin with tool safety and basic cutting techniques before progressing to more detailed shapes, interior cuts, sanding, fitting, staining, and assembly. Each week builds on the skills introduced previously, allowing students to work carefully and confidently toward a polished final project.

No previous woodworking experience is required. Because students will be working with powered equipment, they must be able to follow safety instructions, remain focused, and work independently with instructor guidance.

Students will learn to:

  • Safely operate a scroll saw

  • Select and install appropriate blades

  • Follow and transfer woodworking patterns

  • Make straight, curved, and detailed cuts

  • Use basic hand tools safely

  • Drill starter holes for interior cuts

  • Sand and prepare wooden pieces

  • Apply stain or finish

  • Assemble a layered wooden display

Each student will leave the course with a completed, self-standing wooden Wyoming display.
